Last post

I should have been preparing for assessment but I couldn't resist doing one last etching, I think it's a good one, lots of movement

contextual notebook

In addition to my regular contextual notebook I've bought and altered a book of Nancy Speo's
work, well, it's more fun than photocopying stuff and sticking it in a a notebook

Life is a journey, up river to who knows what horrors.

Journeys

Looking back at my prints this term I realise they are all records of journeys I have made since Christmas. To Paris, canoeing on the Shannon, a train trip on mothers day to Cork and Lanzerotte

Reflections on water

The same can be said for light reflected off water

Early morning and evening light

Lately I have being trying to capture light on a landscape, mostly my garden, either early in the morning or late evening. Edward Hopper once said "Maybe I'm not very human, all I wanted to do was paint light on the side of the wall of a building" I agree with him. Toward the end of his life when asked what his art was about he said"myself" again I would agree with that.
Conceptual art; A concept is just an idea or theme, morning light can be a concept as well as anything else
