Jetty 2

I've just made two rather troubled figures for the jetty. i've made them out of Das air drying clay. In some ways I dont like this stuff, its very hard  to join bits, even after wetting, its springy and spongy , very hard to detail. It is nice and light, doesnt have to be fired and because it is awkward to use you are forced make nice loose  figures, like painting with a brush on a long stick.

Jetty

Only the walk way of these old jetties in Killaloe shows above the water, its only when scuba diving do you realise that they are big, 5 meters tall on spidlally legs, festooned with old rope ready to snare the unwary diver, while he is swept along in the fast current , I was diving there last sunday. It set me thinking a lot of what goes on in life is deep down, unspoken, hidden and ready to snare you when you least expect it.

. This is a wooden model I'm trying to do a clay version with a male and female figure

Children of Lir

The clay peice of people changing into birds has been fired. It broke up a bit while fiiring but who ever took it out of the klin collected all the bits carefully so I stuck it back togetner with "no more nails " and srrayed it silver. I think it looks quite posh.

Dish of the Day

I made this in ceramics today. It  was ment to be an abstract construction but turned out to be an onion on a bed of cannalone and lettuce, Ah well........
