Studio painting

This afternoon I did an acrylic painting of my studio ff13 , I,ve done it a  much looser way than i normally do and I have being paying attention to its apperance as a painting rather than a representation . I've been looking at Frank Auerbach, William de Kooing , Jackson Pollock and John Virtue and for them the actual  way the paint looks on the canvas rather than what it represants seems to be important

Untill nowI have been working towards a very finished look in painting , the picture (right) i did in the summer. I want to move towards something now where the paint itself on the surface is the important thing in its self not just a means to an end
