skindeep art and Austiwich

Art is about how it looks . In art ,beauty really is only skin deep, it's superfical ,thats fine with me . I was in Austiwich  this summer I saw records of people who were in the worst place in the world and knew they abuot to die. They still still drew , i dont know why , i dont know why its so important to me ,but they drew on toilette paper or whatever they could find ,Obviously a lot of the art was motivated by a wish to document what was happening , a way of taking a tiny bit of controle  back  maybe a record for the future , a way of saying " I  mattered it wasnt all pointless", .or a record with a mind to courts and retribution in the future but ithink people would have still drawn if none of the above applied its just a human thing The few pictures I saw were very touching but presumably there were tens of thousands painted or drawn which were lost like the well over a million lives that were destoryed in that horrible place.

So untill the killing got so mad that the photographers couild nt keep up , everone who arrived at austiwich had their photo taken , hundreds of thousands of them . Most are so numbed by the cataclysm that has over taken their lives that they have no expression , a few are defient , upsettingly some of the girls try to look sexy, very few like this poor man looks absoutly terrified . he didn't know what was about to happen to him but he had a feeling it was going to be absolutly horrible and unfortunatly he was right , he died a few days after the photo was taken, So isuppose art is simultaniosly peripheral just decoartion and yet absollutaly at the core of what is to be a person
